Compassionate
“Compassion as a Lifestyle”
The mission declaration of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) states:
“Following the example of Jesus, Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) partners with local Nazarene congregations around the world to clothe, shelter, feed, heal, educate, and live in solidarity with those who suffer under oppression, injustice, violence, poverty, hunger, and disease. NCM exists in and through the Church of the Nazarene to proclaim the Gospel to all people in word and deed”.
Nazarene Compassionate Ministries is based in the Biblical foundation that calls all saints to involvement in the ministry among the poor and marginalized. Believers seek to live and act in compassion following the example of the life and ministry of Jesus himself. As disciples and as a Church, we seek to embody the gospel that Christ lived and preached, and to be witnesses of the love and compassion of God to our suffering and broken world.
We believe that the work of compassion in the church is as simple as the description in Matthew 25:36 which instructs us to feed the hungry, provide water to the thirsty, clothe the naked, receive the stranger, and visit the sick and imprisoned. Responding to this challenge, the compassion of the local church is demonstrated in different ways by different ministry projects.
As Nazarene Compassionate Ministries we seek to impact our communities through the following areas:
