(NCSA Uruguay) The Pastoral Care Conference “Taking Care of Those Who Care for Others” was held in the city of Montevideo on June 8-9 with the pastors of the South Uruguay District. There were 22 people in attendance: among them 7 pastoral couples, 1 single pastor, along with special guests and presenters.
It was a blessed time where the pastoral body was encouraged to participate in the whole health of the minister as a priority of having a balanced life and family, which are essential for having a healthy church.
The presenters were Rev. Geraldo Nunes (Holistic Ministries Coordinator for Brazil); Pastor Jose Luis Becerra (SAM Regional leader of the Living Out the Great Commission Initiative) and Rev. Carlos Soto, both of whom are from Colombia. The wives and mothers who were present also had a special time in workshops where they were encouraged to continue with the important work of Women’s Ministries (MAM – Ministerio a la Mujer) in each local church. The ladies were also honored with a special time celebrating Mother’s Day. Rev. Rocio Fonseca (National Coordinator for Women’s Ministries in Uruguay) led these very special moments with the ladies.
We thank the District Superintendent, Rev. Adhemar Charlín, and his wife, Pastor Ligdana Carrero, for their valuable help in making this time a success; and at the same time also thank the Regional Leaders for their constant help in the development and progress of the Church in Uruguay.
Now that the Pastoral Care Conference is over, the next step to take will be the challenge of beginning Phase 1 with other churches from the South District getting involved in the Regional Initiative “Living Out the Great Commission.”
We deeply appreciate your prayers on behalf of the Church in Uruguay for the plans that God has for this special country.
